Aloha and welcome to www.TomSalsberg.com!
The purpose of this site is to give people an introduction to myself; who I am, what I've done, and what I hope to do.
Over the fifty years or so I've been kicking around this planet, I've had many interests, acquired some knowledge, and formed many opinions (perhaps too many). I hope sharing these will be of some benefit to you or anyone interested. In the late 1980s and early 1990s I studied the teachings of Dr. Alfred Adler at the Adler School of Professional Psychology, which is based in Chicago. There I learned about what Dr. Adler called the "life tasks".
Dr. Adler talked about three life tasks we all must deal with to help move society forward in its evolution;
(1) work (in our society this means making money or preparing oneself to make money though study or apprenticeship),
(2) sex (including love), and
(3) social connectedness (including friendships).
Students of Dr. Adler's, Rudolf Dreikurs and my teacher, Harold Mosak, inferred two more life tasks. Another professor at the Adler School of Professional Psychology, John F. Newbauer (owner of IndPsych.com) says these two additions aren't really "life tasks" to move society forward, but rather are challenges to individuals which ground them and give them strength enough to participate in the three life tasks which move society forward. Either way, I think them important enough to include here, and they are as follows:
(4) spirituality (including religion) and
(5) self (including physical wellbeing).
I have organized this website by categorizing my interests, knowledge and opinions - in short, my life - into these five categories. In the upper right corner of this webpage, you will find life task headings listed in menu format. Please click on these links to explore areas that are of interest to you!
